Monthly Update: February Sample Progress

Slow progress, but at least moving along. Several samples look to have completed recently, and I'm really pleased with them so far in these revisions.  Here are the ones I've seen updated!

Design Statuses:

  • Hibiscus Dragon - awaiting sample update
  • Tiger Lily Dragon - sample now approved for production
  • Sunflower Dragon- sample now approved for production (will get minor tweaks to look more 'golden'
  • Chrysanthemum Dragon - production ready
  • Cornflower Dragon - sample now approved for production (will get faint blue adjustment)
  • Iris Dragon- sample now approved for production
  • Foxglove Dragon - awaiting sample update
  • Plumeria Dragon - production ready
  • Dahlia Dragon - awaiting sample update
  • Hops Dragon - Sample approved
  • Sakura Dragon - Sample approved
  • Hops Bookmark - sample in progress still (got missed until now it seems)
  • Sakura Dragon bookmark - sample in progress
  • Stickers are production ready.

January Sample Progress

Progress is still going annoyingly slow right now, we are still waiting on updated samples with the pearlescent revisions under the clear enamel. They have been prioritizing my older Patreon pin club project (from 2024) that was the most behind, which is why samples are taking so long. I'll post as soon as we get something with a photo update from the manufacturer of all the sample updates when I get them. However, I do have these 6 at the half-way point without their screen printing effects, UV effects, and fills.

As you can see, overall they are looking so far a ton better than the last visual update. Hopefully samples will be completely done soon.

December Sample Progress

Progress is still frustratingly slow right now, as we are still waiting on another round of samples with the pearlescent revisions under the clear enamel. I don't have updated samples yet to show you yet, as none of the revised art (with the Plumeria Dragon's fix on all the other designs) have yet to be shown. Though we are expecting it any day since it has been well over a month since that revision group was sent off. I'll post as soon as we get something with a photo update from the manufacturer.

Sample Progress

The past two months have flown by, I really thought I had updated in the start of October. However, part of that is because not much has changed, samples are still in progress and I'm only just starting to get in the revisions to see after waiting the past month and a half for them. As we were testing several fix ideas to get the pins more in line with intended look between this campaign, pin club, and Rainbow in the Skies pins. We had a lot of back and forth to figure out options that wouldn't hike the price up too much. (As due to tariff crazy, we are trying to sample as little as possible so we don't use up as much funds in case tariffs are high when pins are complete so we can make sure to deliver the product.)

This is the only sample we've gotten an update on for this campaign from our manufacturer: Plumeria Dragon:

We intend to use a similar pearly effect to get the colors to work correctly and show their underlay metal properly. This was the most incorrect initial sample, that would benefit from the suggested test sample from the manufacturer.

Monthly Update: August - sample progress

Sample Progress

1st round Samples arrived in the mail yesterday for me to inspect in person, hence the delay in getting out a monthly update. For the most part they look good. Though we will need a second pass on most of the designs. They are a little too clear, which I'm honestly confused by. As this is the typical way I work for most of my work. The details with such reflective metals makes the designs a bit hard to read for their size. So I will be looking into a few options, either matte metal finishes, or lessening the hyper-clarity feel of the enamel fill in some areas.

I do not have any updated photos, as the reflectivity makes them actually hard to see in still images right now. I will likely post some videos soon on my Discord since that makes it easier to gauge. Link HERE to the Discord server.
